Sedation Dentistry

Gentle sedation options so you can relax through any dental procedure — from routine cleanings to complex treatments.

Overview

Anxiety-Free Dental Care

Dental anxiety shouldn't keep you from getting the care you need. At Gateway Family Dentistry, we offer multiple sedation options to help you feel completely relaxed and comfortable during your visit.

Whether you experience mild nervousness or severe dental phobia, Dr. Gailey will work with you to find the right sedation level. Many patients tell us they wish they'd tried sedation dentistry years ago.

Sedation is also an excellent option for patients undergoing lengthy or complex procedures, those with a strong gag reflex, or anyone who wants a more comfortable dental experience.

Sedation Options We Offer

Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas) — A mild sedative inhaled through a small mask. You'll feel relaxed but remain fully awake and responsive. Effects wear off quickly after the mask is removed, so you can drive yourself home.

Oral Sedation — A prescription medication taken before your appointment. You'll feel drowsy and deeply relaxed but can still respond to verbal cues. You'll need a ride to and from your appointment.

IV Sedation — For patients who need deeper sedation, IV sedation provides a deeper level of relaxation. You'll be in a sleep-like state and have little to no memory of the procedure.
